Therapeutic Massage

Welcome to my therapy space! Here you will find a luxuriously padded and heated therapy bed, that is fully adjustable to suit you, for 100% comfort.

Before our treatment begins, we discuss which carrier oils would suit you best.

As standard I provide a choice of  high quality Aromatherapy pre-blended massage oils, which you can chose on the day to suit you for that appointment.

Or if you so choose- just a pleasant unscented carrier oil. (This may be suitable for those who are also using medication or Homeopathy as a treatment at the time of the massage appointment).

Before treatment: we go through a few question and ensure that the medical history and current health issues are up-to-date, and choose the course of treatment you wish to have that day.

Advice will be given as to what clothing would be suitable for the treatment; then I shall give you privacy whilst you prepare and get comfortable onto the heated therapy bed- under clean towels and blankets, ready for the treatment.

Please ensure you are wearing appropriate underwear at all times for my treatment session.

I will gauge what pressure suits you once we begin the treatment this will be modified with  techniques and different  pressures throughout the session- ensuring you get the best quality massage and therapeutic experience!

Here is the list of modalities that engaged for holistic massage:

  • Effleurage, tapotement, frictions: transverse and longitudinal
  • Myofascial release techniques
  • Gentle stretching
  • Deep tissue massage techniques
  • Use of specific aroma-therapeutic blended massage oils.

At the end of the treatment, you are welcome to lay and come back into the room naturally. With post Covid-19 protocols relaxed we can provide water in a disposable cup when requested, but we recommend that you bring your own, ensuring adequate hydration continues after you leave the clinic!

If you have any questions about the services that I provide please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Additional Information

The importance  and the power of touch has been lost on today's modern society. It connects us with the outside world, it allows an exchange of energy, it stops us from feeling alone, and therefore improves mental health.

Massage is more than a tool used by an athlete to manage injuries, or a 'special treat' gifted for a birthday ; it has become the modern day mechanism to managed and cope with modern day stress.

Physiologically, massage directly or indirectly affects the Parasympathetic Nervous System, which is the system responsible for allowing the body to correct imbalances and ills, and thusly help us fight disease. The combination of movements used during massage encourages relaxation and increases the production of endorphins, natural painkillers  and mood elevators that create a sense of well-being.

Effects of massage can have on the  bodily systems: MUSCULAR SYSTEM:

  • Release oft tissue tension
  • Relieve stiffness
  • Decrease muscle spasms
  • Release restrictions a soften and realign scare tissue
  • Loosen adhesion
  • Help to restore optimal function
SKELETAL SYSTEM:
  • Releasing tension and restriction in soft tissue
  • Re-establish a balance in muscle function where needed and increase mobility and flexibility
  • Reduce stress on joints
CARDIOVASCULAR  SYSTEM:
  • Increase blood flow
  • Massage brings more  oxygen and nutrients and removes waste products
  • Promotes efficiency in the system
NERVOUS SYSTEM:
  • Stimulates a variety of sensory receptors- depending on techniques used
  • Stimulates or sooth nerves
  • Reduce pain from the result of endorphins released.
LYMPHATIC SYSTEM:
  • Massage can help the immune system by promoting fluid movement through the tissue assisting with elimination of toxins
  • It can also increase white  blood cell count to help the body fight disease.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM:
  • Stimulating the PNS   (parasympathetic nervous system).
  • Increases digestive movement  through peristalsis, thus helping to relieve constipation, colic and gas.
URINARY SYSTEM:
  • Increasing circulation
  • Stimulating the PNS- massage- improves elimination.

Holistic Massage, Relaxation, well-being

Did you know, that a full body massage is to equivalent to 8hrs rest-filled sleep for the body!

Holistic massage, relaxation, well-being

Mental health well being benefit of massage

If touch is a language, it seems we instinctively know how to use it. But apparently it's a skill we take for granted. When asked about it, the subjects in Hertenstein's studies consistently underestimated their ability to communicate via touch—even while their actions suggested that touch may in fact be more versatile than voice, facial expression, and other modalities for expressing emotion.

The language of touch means ‘contact’- the relationship with what lies outside our own periphery, the ground beneath our feet. A caring massage creates feelings of well-being, trust and joy and it can release a great deal of energy wasted in tension by transforming chronic habits  of reaction from stressors will profoundly and positively affect physical and emotional changes.

It is this emotional aspect of massage that is extremely important, because at its highest efficiency, massage can be a form of mediation, with two participants. Massage is a two-way flow of touch and response; a mutual exchange of energy.

The hands which both give and receive, and the skin-  are instruments of communication; so in a sense the term “giver” and “receiver” are deceptive, since any form of touch therapy is a matter of sharing (Lidell, 2000).

By the healing power of touch both partners need to understand their roles in the exchange: to be receptive and have mutual trust, by surrendering to the giver and the giver by being open and sensitive to the receivers needs.

Touch is a powerful way of facilitating communication and enhancing psychological and physical comfort .

Massage will create this positive and affirming power of touch, that is unlike any other therapies. whether you wish for your treatment to have a physiological effect or whether you need it to have a psychological effect (or a mix of both), it is adaptable to your specific needs.

'When we feel comfortable in our bodies, we become less focused on the negative and begin to feel the positives all around us in our everyday lives. Moods improves, cortisol levels reduce, we have more energy, less pain and in general our mental well-being is much buoyant and joyful!'
